Who is MEMdata?

MEMdata was the first company of its kind, formed by a group of healthcare professionals with a vision to assist medical facilities with capital equipment purchases.

What does MEMdata do?

MEMdata processes capital equipment purchases for hundreds of medical facilities. For every new equipment purchase MEMdata's clients make, we identify ALL options at the BEST prices. In addition to hard dollar cost reductions for routine capital purchases, MEMdata also offers Equipment Planning in support of construction projects, web-based tools in support of capital equipment investments, price benchmarking, and other services.

What type of equipment purchases does MEMdata cover?

All equipment purchases are included, from imaging assets to office equipment — even traditionally difficult transactions such as copiers and reagent rental agreements! MEMdata archives detailed pricing and specification data in over 200 categories of capital equipment.

Does MEMdata help with construction projects?

Yes! New facility construction, renovations and expansions are challenging projects loaded with deadlines. In such pressing environments, equipment savings opportunities can easily be missed, sending actual costs far in excess of your budget. How do you accomplish cost reductions?

With Data, Competition, and Volume. MEMdata obtains and archives competitive pricing data on all new equipment purchases and maintenance service contracts acquired by our hospital clients. This gives us the data to know when you are receiving a good price. We solicit proposals from all manufacturers and distributors for a given equipment need, and present the full spectrum of choices for you to select from. This ensures a purely competitive environment, every time! In addition, we receive volume discounts and other incentives which we pass on directly to you.

How much will we save?

On average, we identify 18% savings on our clients' total capital equipment purchase budget, but final savings is largely dependent upon you. For each capital equipment purchase your hospital makes, you will have the complete marketplace of OEMs for that product identified, complete with a detailed proposal from every provider. Vendor awards are yours to make — MEMdata's program leaves complete authority and control of vendor selection with our clients.

Does MEMdata have any competitors?

Yes. As with all successful business models, there are a few new competitors attempting to replicate our business. We're flattered, but these companies have recently formed, and as a result do not have the critically important equipment specs, pricing data, purchasing volume or expertise to deliver. I currently have an agreement with a firm that reviews our capital purchases. Is this the same as MEMdata?

No. These types of companies offer decision support and price analysis only. They consult with you on how you can achieve savings, while MEMdata secures hard dollar savings directly. In addition, these services limit quotation review to mostly medical equipment, while MEMdata processes all types of capital equipment. Finally, MEMdata services are self-funding, with our fees generated by the savings we achieve. To our knowledge, we are the only service of our kind that offers this contractual guarantee.

My hospital belongs to a GPO. We get the best prices on equipment already, don't we?

No. Our clients routinely receive better pricing on equipment purchases than that specified on capital equipment contracts through GPO memberships.

Do we have to go “off GPO contract” to buy equipment through MEMdata?

No. MEMdata only asks the vendor to offer their best possible price for our clients, and they do in the vast majority of cases. Whether that pricing is “off contract” or on makes no difference to MEMdata — as long as it is the best possible price. Healthcare can no longer afford paying higher than customary prices… it just can't.

What about our GPO rebate?

MEMdata obtains an average of 18% savings on capital purchases. MEMdata savings are 9 times larger than the common 2 percent rebate you receive at the end of the year from your GPO. In addition, your supplies purchases usually make up the vast majority of the total purchases you are rebated on, which does not change with MEMdata services. And, GPO-contracted equipment purchases do not change with MEMdata. You simply pay a lower price.

Can MEMdata help with my budgeting process?

Yes. MEMdata has recently co-developed a powerful and user-friendly budgeting tool with the group purchasing organization, Amerinet. Regardless of your GPO affiliation, your organization can benefit from this exciting new budgeting tool.

What other benefits does MEMdata provide?
